Public Comment Policy:
Prior to all votes, the public is welcome to comment on that specific item. If you are attending in person, please complete a comment card by the beginning of the meeting and indicate you have a comment. If you are attending remotely and you wish to address the Board, please use the chat feature in Teams. You will be called upon at the appropriate time to speak. You will be allotted a set amount of time during the “general public comment” period of the meeting and prior to any votes.

Committee Meetings

Development Committee Meetings
These meetings take at noon on the third floor of 1307 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.

Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Development Committee is to:
- Ensure the organization maintains sound fundraising goals, strategies, and processes
- Support the CEO in developing fundraising strategies and processes
- Organize and lead the Board’s role in supporting fundraising efforts
Responsibilities:
- support the management team in setting annual and long-term fundraising strategic goals
- develop policies, plans, procedures, and schedules for Board involvement in fundraising
- set minimum guidelines for Board member contributions and then solicit those contributions
- assist the management team in the identification, evaluation, and cultivation of potential donors (individuals, foundation, and corporations)
- partner with the management team to foster relationships with community organizations, non-profit foundations, and corporate entities that support education
- develop and submit to the Board a calendar of annual committee meetings and activities
- deliver onboarding and trainings to foster a working knowledge of the organization’s fundraising techniques and performance data among all Board members
