As we close out Black History Month, we honor the legacy of Booker T. Washington—a visionary leader, educator, and advocate for Black excellence. 📖🏛️ Our Booker T. Washington High School stands as a testament to his belief in education as a pathway to opportunity and progress. ❤️💙
Founded in 1942, Booker T. Washington High School was the first public high school for African American students in New Orleans, offering academic and trade training. Its historic auditorium hosted cultural icons like Paul Robeson and the New Orleans Symphony, cementing its place in history. After closing in 2005, the school reopened in 2016 as a KIPP charter school, continuing its mission of excellence and empowerment. 📚🎓
