Today, we’re celebrating Jonquell Thiel, a senior at Booker T. Washington High School, who has secured more than $520,728 in band and academic scholarships—an incredible reflection of his talent, discipline, and dedication both in and out of the classroom. 👏🏾🎶🎓
Jonquell has earned acceptance into numerous colleges and universities, including Hardin-Simmons University, Alabama State University, Houston Christian University, Thiel College, South Carolina State University, Mississippi Valley State University, Tuskegee University, Wiley College, Miles College, Albany State University, Nichols College, and more.
His hard work and musical excellence have earned him a full band scholarship to Albany State University, where he will continue his academic journey while showcasing his talent and passion through music. 🎺💛

Today, we’re celebrating Deril Valdery Jr., a standout senior at John F. Kennedy High School, who has secured more than $315,620 in scholarships and earned acceptance into multiple colleges and universities, including Oklahoma State University, the University of Oregon, Ole Miss, Mississippi State University, Kansas State University, the University of Houston, and Southern University. 👏🏾🎓
A champion on and off the track, Deril helped lead the JFK boys track team to state championships in the 4x200 and 4x400 relays, while also helping break a 50-year-old state record in the 4x400—a historic achievement that speaks to his discipline, leadership, and relentless drive. 🏆⚡
Now, Deril is taking his talents to Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, continuing a proud tradition of Black excellence at one of the nation’s premier HBCUs, where culture, legacy, and opportunity come together to shape the next generation of leaders. 💙💛
