National Signing Day was a moment to remember at John F. Kennedy High School. Eleven of our Cougar student-athletes officially signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their football careers at the collegiate level — surrounded by the families, coaches, mentors, and JFK community who poured into them every step of the way.🐾🏈✍🏾
These young men represent more than talent on the field. They embody discipline, resilience, leadership, and heart. We are beyond proud of our Cougars and excited to watch them take this next powerful step in their journey. Once a Cougar, always a Cougar.🎓💙

Safety first. Pride on full display. Mardi Gras done the right way. 🎭💜
We were proud to host today’s @nolaps Mardi Gras Safety Press Conference at our historic Pride of Uptown, Booker T. Washington High School—bringing together NOLA Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Fateama Fulmore, school leaders, students, community partners, NOPD, OPSB members, and representatives from the Krewe of Rex and the Krewe of Zulu.
At KIPP New Orleans Schools, student safety is always our top priority. Keeping our students and all students across New Orleans safe is essential to ensuring a joyful, meaningful, and safe Mardi Gras season for everyone 🎭🎶.
Superintendent Dr. Fulmore shared essential safety reminders for parade-goers:
• Keep Your Hands to Yourself: Cheer enthusiastically for students, but do not walk alongside or touch marching bands, dance teams, or walking groups. Avoid throwing beads directly at school bands.
• Step Back & Don’t Cross: When bands approach, step back to give them space to march. Never cross between school groups and always stay behind barricades.
• Stay Vigilant: Face the parade route at all times to avoid being hit by beads, throws, or floats.
• Follow Police Instructions: Respect directions from the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) and Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office personnel dedicated to public safety.
• If You See Something, Say Something: Immediately report concerns to nearby law enforcement officers.
We were especially proud to hear from our #BTW seniors Nari A., Student Body Council Vice President, and Dylan B., Student Body Council President & member of The Pride of Uptown Marching Band, who shared student-centered safety reminders rooted in respect, awareness, and listening to chaperones and law enforcement along the parade route.
Our #BTW Leader, Korbin Johnson, thanked NOLA-PS for uplifting our students and spoke to the school’s rich, historic legacy—emphasizing that all students and staff deserve to march in a safe and respectful environment, and that we are all responsible for looking out for every child .

It’s officially Black History Month—and this year marks a powerful milestone. 🖤📚
2026 commemorates 100 years since the founding of Negro History Week by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the moment that sparked what we now honor as Black History Month. This year’s national theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” invites us to reflect on a legacy of identity, pride, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice. ✊🏾
At KIPP New Orleans Schools, we celebrate the brilliance and contributions of Black Americans—past and present—and the dreams our students are boldly bringing to life every day. From the classroom to the community, Black excellence is ever-present across our schools.📚
Join us this month as we uplift stories, traditions, and triumphs that have shaped history—and continue to shape our future.🖤✨
