What is your school calendar and hours?
Pre-K-8 schools operate from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM, and our high schools run from 7:25 AM to 2:45 PM. You can access our full academic calendar here.
Do you provide bus transportation?
Yes, we provide bus transportation for families living within Orleans Parish at all of our schools.
Do you provide school lunch and meal assistance?
All schools provide healthy breakfast and lunch for all students.
Do you provide language support services?

Enrollment
At what age can my child begin their KIPP journey?
All of our primary schools offer a limited number of Pre-K seats for eligible families. Students must turn 4 by September 30 to be eligible.

What grade levels are available?
We offer enrollment for students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. This allows us to guide students through their entire PreK-12 educational journey, preparing them for success in college, career, and beyond.
Are there any prior academic requirements?
No, KIPP New Orleans Schools have an open-enrollment policy. As tuition-free public charter schools, we welcome all students from Orleans Parish, regardless of their previous academic performance or background.
How do you prepare and support students for college?
We equip every high school student with personalized guidance on college applications, financial aid, campus life, and all steps to make their college dreams a reality. Over 95% of our graduates have been accepted to college.
Does KIPP have an enrollment screening process for academic performance or other characteristics?
No, at KIPP, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. Our open-enrollment policy means that the only requirement is residence in Orleans Parish, ensuring that all students have access to a high-quality education.

Are KIPP schools public schools or private schools?

Do KIPP schools require uniforms?
Yes, all KIPP schools in New Orleans currently require uniforms. Uniforms can be purchased through Uniforms By Logo Express. Our uniform policy fosters a sense of community and pride among our students.

Do you provide teacher training?
Yes, we offer a three-week summer intensive program, along with ongoing professional development throughout the school year. Our teachers receive continuous coaching and support to ensure they are equipped to meet the needs of every student.

What special education and 504 plans do you offer?
We provide robust special education programming and personalized support plans, including 504 plans. Our services are tailored to the unique needs of each student, ensuring they receive the targeted interventions they need to thrive. What is your school safety and discipline approach?
At KIPP New Orleans Schools, creating a secure and nurturing environment is a top priority. Over the past three years, we’ve invested more than $1.5 million dollars to strengthen campus safety and security. Our comprehensive approach includes:
- Advanced weapons detection systems at all Pre-K-8 campuses.
- Clear/mesh backpacks for all students, which are required daily.
- Enhanced perimeter safety, with well-lit exteriors to ensure secure surroundings.
- Trained on-site security personnel at each campus.
- State-of-the-art surveillance cameras to monitor and protect the community.
Additionally, in compliance with Louisiana state legislation, all student cell phones and telecommunication devices (including smartwatches) are securely stored during the instructional day and returned to students at dismissal.
These ongoing safety initiatives are designed to create an environment where students feel secure and can focus on learning, growth, and development throughout the school year.
What college and career pathways do you offer?
We provide a range of college and career pathways designed to prepare students for their future. Our partnerships with BECNO, Delgado Community College, Nunez Community College, GEMS, and Gateway EMS Training offer students opportunities to explore fields like aerospace, engineering, culinary arts, real estate, welding, and EMT training. These pathways help students gain practical experience and certifications, ensuring they are well-prepared for college and career success.
