Our KIPP New Orleans Schools team and Parent Advisory Board had an incredible opportunity to return to Capitol Hill for the 2025 Spring Advocacy Week, joining forces with the CMO Coalition to amplify the voices of our students, families, and educators. We met with staff members from Rep. Troy Carter, @SteveScalise, and @SenBillCassidy to advocate for continued support of high-quality public charter schools and the vital resources our communities need.
We emphasized the importance of preserving the Department of Education, fully funding programs like Title I, Title III, and IDEA, and increasing investment in school-based mental health services. These initiatives are essential to ensuring that every student—no matter their ZIP code—has access to the academic, emotional, and behavioral supports they need to succeed.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside other leaders, families, and advocates from across the country to push for justice, equity, and meaningful change. Together, we are shaping a future where all students thrive.
